This week is Shabbat Shuva, the Shabbat between Rosh Hashannah and Yom Kippur. The readings deal with repentence and God’s mercy.
This week’s Haftarah is: Hosea 14:2-10; Micah 7:18-20; Joel 2:15-27 (Ashkenazi); Hosea 14:2-10; Micah 7:18-20; Joel 2:15-27 (Sephardi)
Hosea chapter fourteen is an appeal to Israel to return to God. If she repents, God promises to forgive the people.
Micah chapter 7: Micah asks that she be brought back from the Nations and restored to her homeland.
Joel chapter 2: God declares that if sincere repentance is offered, He will protect the Land and cause the locusts to remain where they are and not invade Israel.
