Accusation: Thousands of Jews that called for the killing of Jesus were humbled when they were showed [sic] the prophecies after the fact, and they came to believe he was the Messiah. Many had a lack of knowledge of the scriptures beforehand and sadly that is how it still is today.
Response: There were never thousands of Jews that called for the killing of Jesus. This isn’t even supported by Christian scripture. Here are the passages of this supposed calling for the death of Jesus.
But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitudes that they should ask for Barabbas and destroy Jesus. … And all the people answered and said, “His blood be on us and on our children.” (Matthew 27:20, 25)
The Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests, the rulers, and the people … But they were insistent, demanding with loud voices that He be crucified. And the voices of these men and of the chief priests prevailed. So Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they requested. (Luke 23:13, 23-34)
But they cried out, “Away with Him, away with Him! Crucify Him!” Pilate said to them, “Shall I crucify your King?” The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar!” (John 19:15)
Nowhere does it say there were thousands and that would have been highly improbably given the time period. It is highly improbable that a horrific person like Pilate would even entertain the though of allowing a subjugated people to choose between two prisoners. This entire scene is made up and not even remotely probably. Even if this happened, which, again is improbable, Pilate doesn’t need to listen to the people. Yet he chose to send Jesus to be crucified.
As for the alleged prophecies, while the prophecies that Christianity uses to try and prove Jesus is the Messiah are all made up, taken out of context, mistranslated, or misinterpreted, Jesus fulfilled exactly zero of the actual Messianic prophecies. Thos of use who know the Tanach, know that Jesus is not the Messiah. The concept of Jewish deicide has led to the subjugation and murder of millions of Jews. The concept that Jews are at fault for Jesus’ crucifixion are complete myth. Yet, they have cause hardship, suffering, and death for millions of Jews for the past 2,000 years.
